The same terrace, renewed waterproofing
This project at Merit Park Hotel covered the main terrace surface together with the wall bases, window junctions, dormer roofs and timber details. Repairs to blistered membrane, the new waterproofing layers and the connections between different surfaces formed one coordinated scope of work.
Terrace surface: repair, primer and three coats
Blistered areas of the terrace membrane were cut back and locally repaired by torch bonding. The surface was then primed. The orange layer in the work-in-progress photograph is the primer.
The terrace received three coats of QIS Acrimax UV with mesh reinforcement. This surface treatment was connected to the waterproofing at the parapet and wall bases.

AfterWall bases and window junctions
Blistered and detached sections at the curved wall bases and below the windows were cut out. The opened areas were repaired with bonded bituminous membrane. Mesh-reinforced QIS Acrimax UV was then applied over the repairs as part of the terrace waterproofing.

AfterTwo-layer waterproofing on the dormer roofs
The existing timber roof coverings and the old membrane beneath them were stripped from the OSB. A 3 mm bituminous base sheet was installed over the OSB, followed by a red mineral-finished bituminous cap sheet.

Old membrane that had not bonded to the timber beneath the dormers was removed. These junctions were treated with geotextile fleece and QIS Acrimax UV. The dormer fronts, sides and lower sections were also covered with geotextile fleece before the liquid waterproofing was applied.
A stepped level change was reinforced with geotextile fleece along its length. Depressions and gaps at the terrace edge were filled with repair mortar, followed by waterproofing with mesh or fleece reinforcement according to the detail. At a separate gap, OSB installed by the hotel team was covered with bituminous membrane and mesh-reinforced QIS Acrimax UV.

The internal gutter surfaces were waterproofed too. At the timber columns on the Letafet side, polyurethane sealant was applied around the edges, followed by geotextile fleece and waterproofing over the junctions.
